Fines for drivers parking inconsiderately

We were glad to see reports of the Police enforcing parking restrictions and inconsiderate parking at Glasshouse Loan, this has been an issue for businesses for a long time.

Another area of the BID that is affected by illegal and inconsiderate parking is at Ward Street, Riverbank Industrial Estate.

It is broadly assumed that the cars belong to staff at O-I, which only compounds the problem as the car owners could be on a shift that means delivery trucks either can’t get into the units to make delivery or are stuck there for hours.

The most recent incident can be seen in the image where an articulated lorry was literally stuck with nowhere to go whilst preventing all other traffic from having access or exiting.

When the BID lobbied the Council several years back to put down double yellow lines, we had hoped this would reduce the parking, which it did for a short time, however we will continue to discuss this issue with O-I and inform them that enforcement will be inevitable.

The Police have assured the BID that Ward Street is ‘on their radar’ and will address the situation by issuing fines.
