BID Services
Clacksfirst BID has, since 2008, made it a priority to create dynamic and cared-for business parks and industrial estates through engaging with property owners, businesses and organisations located within them.
Partners, Police Scotland and The Scottish Business Crime Centre, informed the steering group that an uncared for environment will attract crime.
There is ongoing consideration towards making the working environment more appealing for existing businesses and their employee’s as well as attracting inward investment.
Flower Beds
Clacksfirst BID successfully sought funding from Clackmannanshire Council’s ‘Community Environmental Improvement Fund’ which was matched by BID levy funding to deliver flower beds, where appropriate, throughout the BID Area. The beds are maintained by Clacksfirst BID, as are the sixty floral planters, and are restocked with spring and winter stock.
Social Areas
When Clacksfirst BID came into being, any semblance of what could be described as social areas within the BID area had been damaged beyond repair either through vandalism or me age. Clacksfirst BID invested a percentage of the BID levy into new and sustainable social areas that can be found throughout the BID.
Winter maintenance strategy
Grit Bins
The BID purchases significant amounts of de-icing salt every year and our partners at Criminal Justice Service uplifts the salt from our supplier and stocks our 30 grit bins throughout all ten sites of the BID. Thereafter, our salt-spreading contractor proactively, and based on weather forecasts, attends every BID site and spreads salt and, where necessary, carries out snow-clearing.
Signage
Clacksfirst invested a huge amount of BID levy in signage throughout the county. This brought about a more dynamic business environment than that which existed beforehand. The signage is cleaned, maintained and updated by the BID.
General Tidy
Clacksfirst BID has a good working partnership with Clackmannanshire’s Criminal Justice Services. When called upon, CJS has carried out a variety of general work, including litter picks, signage cleaning or general tidy-ups in advance of an event or prestigious visit.
Litter Bins
Clacksfirst BID has successfully sought funding from a number of different sources to ensure the BID area is maintained environmentally and kept as clean and litter free as possible. Much of the funding has been re-invested into litter and recycling bins, this has resulted in a massive reduction in litter and significant amounts of ‘on-the’go’ recycling that would otherwise have gone to landfill.
Drain Cleaning
Every year, the BID cleans approximately 200 drains throughout the BID area. This service is to ensure the drains do not back-up causing floods and therefore impacting on our members capacity to do their business. It is important to note that this is not a service the local authority is obliged to carry out as all of the drains that the BID cleans are on private, unadopted roads and car parks.
