For over seven years, Clacksfirst BID has delivered a free wood recycling service to our BID members. What started out as an infrequent pallet removal service, on the advice of Police Scotland and in order to prevent the pallets being used to gain access to roofs, or even set alight, has organically grown into a regular wood recycling service. We would estimate that, to date, we have recycled almost 4,000 pallets and an incalculable volume of wood that, in all probability, may have gone to landfill.
This service could not be delivered for free were it not for the excellent partnership the BID has with Clackmannanshire Criminal Justice Services (CJS). It is the CJS teams that uplift the wood & pallets and then load them into our container which is then taken by our recycling partner. In many instances, one uplift can take a full working week and can require as many as four container loads to complete the service.
