Scottish Business Resilience Centre ‘Days of Action’

Safety and security have always been the top priority for Clacksfirst BID and this is due to it ranking highest whenever we consult with our members. That’s why we work closely with organisations such as SBRC.
Whilst cybercrime hits the headlines when it comes to business crime, and it is an extremely dangerous aspect of doing business, we invited Police Officers Sergeants Keith Jack and Carole Wyllie to visit businesses in the BID area to discuss ‘traditional’ crime targeting businesses. We visited a number of businesses all varying in size and sector so that we get a broader understanding of the threats faced.
The information gathered from the visits, and a survey of our BID members, will now be compiled into an online presentation that SBRC will deliver exclusively to businesses in Clackmannanshire.
The businesses that we visited included Mulraney Group, Ceteris, Central Rebar, Mackies Coaches, Siabann and Tektronic and the information gathered by the Police officers was extremely
insightful however, the common thread throughout the discussions was ‘community’.
Regardless of the size of the business everyone, in one way or another, mentioned that the community in the immediate business surroundings have played a part in keeping each other safe and secure.
From neighbouring businesses highlighting unwanted attention in their absence to local residents calling the police, each business we met had experienced a sense of the community coming together.
Sergeant Keith Jack said “We were invited to Clackmannanshire by Kevin at Clacksfirst BID and it proved to be a brilliant day, speaking to a range of different businesses focusing on the question
‘What matters to you’. The biggest take away from everyone we spoke to was community, we often look to someone else to keep us safe, the Police, security guards, stewards, the reality is we keep
each other safe and, if we all look after each other, we will all be looked after”.
We might not realise how important it is but, if you see something unusual or suspicious, contact your neighbouring business, contact the Police as well as Clacksfirst BID, if you let the BID know, we can share your information using our Security Alerts in partnership with Police Scotland.
